The Concept
The United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal #1 - No Poverty - is a global call to action to eradicate extreme poverty in all its forms by 2030. It targets the most vulnerable, promotes access to basic resources and services, and supports communities affected by conflict and climate-related disasters. The goal also calls for building the resilience of those in vulnerable situations and reducing their exposure to economic, social, and environmental shocks.
Poverty is not just a numbers problem - it's a community problem. And community is exactly where the solution begins.
This roundtable brings together nonprofit leaders, public officials, women humanitarian leaders, and community stakeholders to do what a global framework cannot do alone: generate real, ground-level solutions that people can act on. Inspired by the principle that "It Takes a Village to Elevate a Community," our facilitated discussion is designed to spark ideas that participants can take back to their own communities - and to gather insights that further strengthen PWIC's ongoing work toward building self-sustaining, thriving communities.
